A good (French) friend of mine recently sent me a picture of a frog he\u2019d come across while hiking through the area and was after an identification of it. Whilst it wasn\u2019t the typical green or sometimes brown colour, this <i>Litoria caerulea<\/i> (Green treefrog) had the distinctive large flat toe-pads that make IDing the species easy.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_220\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-220\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/froggingaround.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/blueish_l_caerulea_greg1.jpg\" alt=\"Litoria caerulea\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" class=\"size-full wp-image-220\" srcset=\"https:\/\/froggingaround.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/blueish_l_caerulea_greg1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/froggingaround.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/blueish_l_caerulea_greg1-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-220\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><i>Litoria caerulea<\/i> (Green treefrog). Rare blue colour visible.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The blue colouring is as a result of the loss of green skin pigment otherwise common to this species, hence this was a \u2018rare\u2019 find \u2013 thanks Greg!<\/p>\n<p>(On a side note, I have been frogging a bit since the last post, but I\u2019m waiting for after my next outing to write a collective post.
