Ground frogs in the front yard

We received approximately 0.3mm of ‘rain’ Monday afternoon from a storm that came though the whole of south-east Queensland. Though in my opinion, if it’s going to storm, it should be decent enough to at least rain properly. Anyway, I was grateful nonetheless. I went out the front of our yard after dark, and accompanying the two calling Limnodynastes peronii (Striped marshfrog) in the ponds, I found a small juvenile, an adult (both of the same species) and an Adelotus brevis (Tusked frog) with quite a large head, but then again that’s nothing odd in this species. We’ve also got four egg foam nests all laid by Limnodynastes peronii. The lower pond now also has some substantial sized tadpoles too, which I believe are also Limnodynastes peronii.

Limnodynastes peronii (Striped marshfrog). How could anyone dislike such a cute looking thing? And this one wasn’t even the juvenile! Just because some people build their bedroom right outside a pond full of these guys calling…

Rhinella marina
Rhinella marina (Cane toad). Did I mention this girl? She was pretty big, though this photo doesn’t really show it.
